The Maryland Mobileers Youth Amateur Radio Club is designed to introduce children and teenagers to the exciting hobby of amateur radio in a fun, welcoming, and hands-on environment. Whether you're interested in talking around the world, learning about radios and antennas, participating in outdoor adventures, or earning your first FCC Amateur Radio license, there's a place for you in our club.
Operate amateur radios and make contacts with stations across the country and around the world.
Set up radios and antennas, build simple projects, and learn how amateur radio works through hands-on activities.
Participate in Parks on the Air (POTA), Field Day, fox hunts, and other outdoor operating events.
One of our favorite activities is Parks on the Air (POTA). During these outings, youth members learn how to:
Set up amateur radio equipment
Assemble portable antennas
Activate a park for Parks on the Air (POTA)
Make contact with amateur radio operators around the world
Log contacts using POTA logging procedures
Work together as a team while enjoying the outdoors
Every POTA activation provides a fun opportunity to practice operating skills while exploring Maryland's beautiful parks.

Join us as we learn how to set up portable radio equipment, install antennas, activate a park for Parks on the Air (POTA), and make amateur radio contacts. This event is perfect for youth who want to experience amateur radio in a fun, outdoor setting.
Youth of all ages who have an interest in amateur radio are welcome to participate. Younger children should attend with a parent or guardian. No amateur radio license is required to attend and learn.
Operate real amateur radio equipment.
Learn alongside other young amateur radio enthusiasts.
Participate in POTA, Field Day, and club events.
Receive encouragement and mentoring from experienced amateur radio operators.
